Written by McDonald, T.   |  Date 15th of May 2023 Omelettes are one of those things I miss. However, thanks to crackD we have an easy way to make them. This Chinese omelette is sweet, different, and tasty.   Although, the crackD egg replacement struggles with this dish, it is still good and better than nothing.

By McDonald, T.   |  Date 2nd of August 2021 Are you new to veganism?  Do you want to try something special that is easy to prepare?  If so, this is the dish for you.  It is packed with flavour and easy to use.  When you first go vegan, it's vital to pay attention to nutrition just the same as any other diet; however, unlike a meat eaters diet, a vegan diet lacks B12.  For this reason, i add nutrition yeast with B12 to some dinners. Ingredients  Courgette  Carrot  Parsnips Kale Spinach  Broccoli  Red Bell pepper Chow mein sauce (you could make your own, but i just use a packet sauce) Garlic  Nutritional Yeast with B12 Method Cut the broccoli, carrot and parsnips into strips and fry in a frying pan until they start to go a golden brown.  Add the kale, spinach, garlic and bell pepper.  Add the chow mein sauce.  While this is on a low heat, spiralize the courgette and add it to everything else in the frying pan.  Cook for about 5 minutes and serve with a sprinkling of nutritional

Essential Nutrients Every Vegan Should Know

By McDonald, T.   |  Updated 01 of July 2021 All vegans need to pay attention to nutrition since some vitamins you can't get from vegetables.   This is way you may have heard or even seen on food packaging about foods fortified with things like B12.  However, it is easy to miss out on a balanced diet if you neglect to investigate nutrition.  B12 Why is it important?  Without B12, serious health problems can occur such as: Permanent nerve damage Depression A pale yellow tinge to your skin Irritability Pernicious anaemia Function B12 helps to keeps nerve and blood cells healthy.  It also helps to made DNA in the cells.  B12 loses the protein it is bond to and then binds to another protein in the body called intrinsic factor allowing it to be absorbed. If the body can't make intrinsic factor, it is difficult for the body to absorb B12 resulting in Pernicious anaemia (NIH, 2021). Foods With B12 For vegans, this will have to come from either fortified foods or supplements since

Vegan Steak With Bread Sauce

Image
By McDonald, T.   |  Date 27th of February 2021 Vegans have no need to go without a steak!  This steak from Vivera is brilliant and so tasty.  On the downside, the plastic is not yet recycled.  However, this is a really good stake and makes a great meal. This dinner would be better with a vegan peppercorn sauces, but I couldn't find a vegan one in time so I used bread sauce instead.  Next time I will make my own peppercorn sauce or have it with gravy and vegan horseradish sauce.  The instructions said to fry in oil for 8 minutes. Add some veg and chips with it and you have a tasty dinner to please most people.  I noticed that this steak fries well in a pan with either garlic or chilli infused oil.  Most noticeably, the steak is firm and has great texture for those that miss the texture of meat. Vegan Fry Up

Image
By McDonald, T.   |  Date 9th of January 2021 Want an English fry up? Well this is just that, but with a twist! The sausages are Chorizo style and everything is vegan.  The sausages come from Wicked Kitchen and the facon (This is not bacon) comes from This.  Put these two products on a plate with some beans, fried mushrooms and tomato, and you have a breakfast that would make any meat eater jealous!   The sausages are great, spicy, tasty and have a meaty texture.  Although it says in order to get best results put under the grill, they fry up fine.  The facon is fabulous, but I wish they where a bit bigger.  Nonetheless, they taste great, but don't overcook them or they will taste yuk.  On the whole this is an easy breakfast and both filling and satisfying.  It is worth noting, the facon contains high levels of protein and is fortified with iron and B12.  In fact, this breakfast gave me 4mg of iron and 27g of protein!  This breakfast also delivers 13g of fibre.  So what is the draw

By McDonald, T.   |  Date 28th of December 2020 Yes, we do actually use banana peel in this dish! It may surprise you to know that banana peel can be used in many different dishes, but today I am going to show you how to use banana peel to make a burger.  Before I get started I should mention that in no way will the end product taste like banana provided  you prepare the banana peel correctly.  Neither are the ends used.
