Plant Chef Beet Burger

Image
Written by McDonald, T.   |  Date 20th of February 2023 The Plant Chef Beet Burger was actually very good!  It didn't seem to taste much of beetroot though; nonetheless, it had a great texture and was chewable like meat.  Plant Chef is a home brand from Tesco, a supermarket in the UK.  The burger is vegan, but unfortunately is packaged in plastic.

Vegan Scramble Egg Breakfast

Image
Written by McDonald, T.   |  Date 4th of January 2023 There are many breakfast ideas you can have, but this one I tried recently.  It comes straight out of a packet from the Tofoo Co Ltd and tastes great!  I tried it on toast with a vegan sausage, tomatoes, and onion.  It only takes 4 minutes in a frying pan to heat up, and then it is ready.  For an added bonus, the packet says you can add vegan mayonnaise to it to make egg mayonnaise. How did it taste? It tasted great.  It was not exactly the same as egg; however, it was very tasty.  It lacks the creaminess of scrambled eggs, but I was fine with that since the flavour and texture were great in their own way. I hope that you liked this blog.  Please leave a comment below.

Free VFC’s Vegan Chicken product!

Image
Written by McDonald, T.   |  Updated 5th of November 2022 After seeing Vegan Fried Chick*n (VFC) on social media and hearing I could get it for free in their promotion, I decided to give it a go.  In short, I am glad that I did! What a burger!  I really fancied a burger over the other two products Chick*n Bites and Popcorn Chick*n, so of to the supermarket I went.  The offer only included a few shops Sainsbury's, Tesco, Vegan Kind and Mighty Plants, so I chose Tesco because it was the only one I could get to on my bike.  On getting home, I prepared the burger and filled out the form for the refund.  Guess what the burger was like?

Plant Pioneers Meat Free Roasting Joint: My thoughts

Written by McDonald, T.   |  Date 15th of April 2022   In short, brilliant!  This was so satisfying in every department.  Every bite had a firm bite to it and a somewhat meaty texture.

I Tried Meatless Farm Chicken Breasts

Image
Written by McDonald, T.   |  Date 11th of March 2022 I had heard a lot about these on social media and decided to try them.  The thing that put me off for a long time is the plastic packaging.  Nonetheless, I gave them a try and found them to be great.  No funny aftertaste and they had a meatiness to them.  The texture was meaty too and it did feel like I was cutting into a chicken breast.  This would be great for Sunday dinner, midweek or even something more fancy such as Hunter's Chicken.  In fact, anything that you can think of that would use a chicken breast this would be fine for. What a fantastic chicken substitute!  I hope that you liked this blog and if you do try this product, please let me know how you got on and what it turned out like. McPlant from McDonald's

Image
Written by McDonald, T.   |  Date 3rd of February 2022 Since this is the month for burgers, it makes sense to check out McDonald's Mc Plant.  This, obviously, required going to a McDonald's restaurant.  With this in mind, I sneaked out to the local McDonald's, that is new incidently, and ordered myself a Mc Plant!  I know what a rebel!  Anyhow, the review.  Well, I have to say it was fantastic!  It tasted like any other burger.  The burger itself is a Beyond Meat burger and was tasty as in like meat and was juicy too.  The one thing I didn't like was the size: it was too small!  Would I have this again? Yes, I would because it was just like a meat burger, which in the past was something that would cause me to fail.  However, if you don't like the texture of meat, you might find this too realistic.    The cost was about £6 with the fries and drink. Hope you enjoyed this blog.

We Can Vegan Tikka Curry: My Review

Image
Written by McDonald, T.   |  Date 13th of January 2022       Sometimes you just don't have the time to make something, so here is another meal in a can this time by We Can.  It is a vegan tikka curry with chicken style pieces.   What I liked  This was great.  It had a mild spicy taste and a beautiful red colour.  In addition, the mock chicken pieces were amazing.  I would have this again and I am very much looking forward to the next time i have it. What I didn't like It seemed to lack vegetables.  This is easily solved by adding veg to it when cooking.  Moreover, I really thought it needed some sultanas, which is also easy to solve by adding them in while cooking.     I recommend trying this because it is superb.  You can get two meals out of each can if you serve with rice and add some vegetables to it. After adding some veg and sultanas and serving with brown rice, I got this.  ...

Tuno & Mayo More Like A Tin Of Bogies!

Image
Written by McDonald, T.   |  Date 17th of September 2021 I have had Loma Tuno before, but it was the chilli one.  This time i decided to try the Tuno and May, but i wished i hadn't!  I had it with a jacket potato and topped it with some olives. Even after adding copious amounts of vegan mayonnaise, and bang bang, vegan salad cream and more vegan mayo i could just about eat it. Nonetheless, I couldn't eat it all.  In the end i got the idea i was eating recycled bogies. Yuk! This is one to avoid! I really hope that you liked this blog.  Please like, share and subscribe.

Beyond Burger Review

Image
Written by McDonald, T.   |  Date 10th of September 2021  Last time I tried this burger it was a frozen one.  This time i tried the fresh one, but was it worth the price?  I must be honest, the only reason I tried it at all is because it was going for less than half price.  I resent paying so much for a vegan burger because it makes me feel exploited  by some company instead of valued.  Anyway, I can add that to the negatives at the end, but know this: it is not all bad.    Does it taste like a meat burger? Yes, It tastes like a meat burger.  I loved the way it smells when cooking and I liked the way it cooked too.  I had it in a bun with some tomato, mustard, BBQ sauce, onion and chilli and I could still taste a really great burger through all that flavour.  Obviously, I tried some without the sauce and pickles and it was still great tasting.   What is the issue with the burger? The issue is not the burger beca...

I Tried Chicago Town Vegan Smoky Bac'n Pizza

Image
By McDonald, T.   |  Date 13th of August 2021 One thing i really used to like was stuff crust pizza, so when i saw this in the supermarket I just had to try it.  I had seen it before on the internet, so i guess advertising works.  Nonetheless, it does look tasty and I wanted a pizza for a change and this fitted my needs perfectly.  It is meaty and vegan. What i liked The topping was every bit as good as it sounds.  The bac'n was tasty and bacony and went great with the mushrooms.  The vegan cheese was superb!  The base and the crust was soft, yet crispy on the outside.  It had a very bready feel and texture too it. In addition, the stuffed crust part was good and had a good amount of tomato sauce.   This pizza was too big for me to eat in one go, so i had the other have the next day cold and it was still great!  It comes with a vegan society logo, which is always a good sign. What i didn't like The negatives for this product a...

Suma Vegan Meatballs Review

Image
Written by McDonald, T.   |  Date 6th of August 2021 This is another thing that i messed as a vegan: meatballs!  I have tried different ones and saw these while shopping online, so i decided to try them out. What I liked This had a really great taste and did seem fairly meaty both in taste and texture.  I had them with spaghetti and vegetables and got two meals out of one can.  The meatballs came in a lovely tomato sauce. What I didn't like This is a difficult one to answer because they really were good.  If i was to nit pick, i would say that although they had a great meaty taste and texture, i thought the meatballs could have been a little more dense.    For a meal in a can, i thought these were great, but a little pricey.  I hope you decide to give this a try. If you do, please let me know what you thought in the comments or on twitter.  Please like, share with your friends and subscribe.

I Tried Richmond Meat-Free Smoked Bacon Rashers

Image
Written by McDonald, T.   |  Date 1st of July 2021       I have heard a lot about these ranging from yuck to very positive.  Being i am almost a scientist, i decided to test them out for myself. The first noticeable thing is the plastic packaging, which will put a lot of their target audience of buying it straight away.   What i though of the rashers I liked them a lot.  They had a pleasing look and tasted very much like bacon.  The texture was also great! I fried them as stated in the instructions.  I then tried them naked, without anything, and in some flatbread with tomato and pepper, which made a really good sandwich. How to make the flatbread  If you liked this, maybe you would like: Vegan Fry Up All Day Vegan Breakfast Vegan B12 Bomber Breakfast without the oink   I hope you decide to give this a try.
